The Strangest Spring Ever

For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.
Isaiah 43:19 NLT

Sister Scripture 2 Chronicles 7:14

What is happening?

How did our nation become a desert of panic?

Spring is supposed to be colorful, flowery, inviting. Instead of breathing in the fresh air we now put on masks to not breath it in. Gatherings that we crave are now toxic breeding grounds of new virus.  Invites sent out for April, May and June are now postponed even cancelled. Usually we start thinking about a loved one’s graduation, prom, birthday BBQ, or wedding. We collaborate on what our t-shirts will say at the July family reunion. Some of us write in our calendars a date for our vacations or request time off from our jobs to visit family out of state or out of the country. Now some of us don’t have a job to take off from.

Then there is the anticipation of new birth and rebirth. Easter/ Resurrection Sunday is our most holy date as believers. It is when we celebrate our Savior that made the ultimate sacrifice so we can share in eternal life. So, yes our lives have been turned around, our social lives thwarted. Yes, we have never experienced a pandemic before, we have never been told to lock ourselves away for a period of time with no due date ahead. We never had our lives all at once been placed on pause. This season may be the bleakest we have lived in as a whole.

But there is hope because we know who holds our tomorrows.

We know we will get through this because a baby boy born over two thousand years ago in a manger, named Emmanuel, meaning "God is with us" walked the Earth, died for our every sin, died for every disease, died for every epidemic we would ever encounter. And Jesus overcame them ALL so we can call on His name and declare by His stripes we have been healed. We don’t have to react the way people who don’t know Jesus do, instead let's spread hope to those whose hope is misplaced.

Call on his name today for our families, for our neighbors, for our communities, for our nation, for our Earth to be healed. Jesus is the cleansing we need. Put on your calendar in bold letters above postponed or canceled events: JESUS IS THE ANSWER!
